NEXUS® Installation - Screw Mounting

Screw Mounting

Some care must be exercised when installing Nexus Directories. Wall surfaces vary in flatness depending on building materials used. Check the wall for flatness with a straight edge. Note any high and low spots on the wall where the directory will be installed. It will be necessary to use shims to keep the directory base flat. If there is a low spot where the mounting screw will be positioned, place shim(s) between the directory and wall. See drawing below. The screw should penetrate the shim. Do not over tighten the screws. Also, correct size of flat head screws must be used. All directories are countersunk for #10 flat head screw. Installer must ensure that the flat of the screw head is slightly below the top surface of the baseplate, and is properly seated in the countersink. (see below)

Note:

Failure to install the directory flat will result in faceplates not being in alignment. Some will stick out higher from the baseplate. In extreme cases, the splines can not be seated properly in baseplate grooves, making it impossible to keep a faceplate in place.
